Mission Statement
Saint Helena Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is committed to fostering Christian values through sports, developing both athletic ability and moral character in our youth. Our program emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth in a faith-centered environment.
Participant Expectations
Athletes' Pledge
As a Saint Helena CYO athlete, I commit to:

Honor God through my conduct both on and off the field

Show respect to all coaches, officials, teammates, and opponents

Accept coaching decisions with grace and positive attitude

Use appropriate language and behavior at all times

Care for team equipment and facility property
-
Support my teammates and maintain team unity

Represent my parish community with dignity

Follow all team and program rules

Practice good sportsmanship in victory and defeat
Spectator Guidelines
All spectators at Saint Helena CYO events must:

Model Christian behavior for our youth

Respect officials' decisions without comment
-
Encourage all players positively
-
Maintain a supportive atmosphere
-
Direct any concerns to appropriate program leadership
-
Refrain from coaching from the sidelines
-
Support the goals of youth development over winning
Prohibited Behaviors
The following actions are strictly forbidden:

Verbal abuse of any kind
-
Physical aggression or threats
-
Challenging officials' decisions
-
Property damage or vandalism
-
Unsportsmanlike conduct
-
Use of inappropriate language
-
Disruptive behavior during games or practices
-
Disrespectful behavior toward coaches and authority figures
Disciplinary Framework
Level 1: Minor Infractions
Examples: occasional disruptive behavior, minor disrespect

First occurrence: Verbal warning
-
Second occurrence: Parent notification
-
Third occurrence: One-practice suspension
Level 2: Significant Infractions
Examples: repeated minor infractions, unsportsmanlike conduct, verbal aggression

Immediate one-week suspension from all team activities
-
Mandatory parent conference
-
Written behavioral contract
-
Athletic Board notification
-
Potential Loss of Recognition/End of Year Awards and All Star Game eligibility
Level 3: Serious Violations
Examples: physical aggression, severe misconduct, repeated Level 2 infractions

Immediate program suspension
-
Athletic Board review
-
Possible season-long suspension
Zero Tolerance Violations
Examples: weapons, controlled substances, criminal behavior

Immediate expulsion from program

Permanent ineligibility

Notification of appropriate authorities
Implementation

Coaches will review this code with teams and parents seasonally

Parents must acknowledge receipt and acceptance when registering their child for a CYO activity

CYO Board oversees enforcement

Code applies to all program-related activities
Special Notes

Multiple minor infractions may result in escalated consequences
-
CYO Board reserves right to modify consequences based on circumstances
-
Focus remains on growth and development, not punishment
-
Reinstatement may require additional conditions
-
Parent/guardian cooperation expected in all disciplinary matters
